Hyderabad: Amidst reports that TRS senior leaders P Srinivas Reddy and K Keshava Rao names have been finalised for two Rajya Sabha MP seats in the ensuing biennial elections, the State Assembly witnessed hectic political activity on Wednesday.

Senior leaders Kadiyam Srihari and B Saraiah called on TRS supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in the latter's chambers in the house raising fresh speculations that one of them have got the assurance of MP seat. Srinivas Reddy also met TRS working president and IT Minister KT Rama Rao after the TRS party abuzz with a talk that senior leader and former minister T Nageswara Rao is also in the race for MP seat. Incidentally, Reddy and Rao hail from the same district of Khammam.

Party sources said that Saraiah had requested KCR to allot one MP seat to him under Most Backward Caste (MBC) quota. Saraiah, who holds TRS General Secretary post, joined the ruling party during 2014 assembly elections after he was given the assurance of a good post in the State government. He tried hard for party ticket in 2018 assembly elections but failed.

Srihari, who was denied party ticket in the assembly and also Lok Sabha elections, is also vying for MP seat in the SC category as the representation from scheduled caste in the Rajya Sabha from the ruling party is nil. Srihari is also staying away from active politics since 2018 as he was not given any post either in the government or in the party.

Sources said that KTR was strongly supporting Srinivas Reddy's candidature and KCR is inclined to give the MP post to his contemporary in the State politics Nageswara Rao. Though reports say that the TRS chief finalised the name of Reddy and Keshava Rao, leaders said that the party is likely to announce the MP candidates' names on Thursday a day before the last date to file the nominations.
