Hyderabad: VRO in Shamirpet held for taking bribe

A Village Revenue Officer (VRO) has been taken into custody for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 here on Wednesday at Shamirpet Tahsildar office.

The officer, Venkatesh is said to have demanded the bribe from Mallesh for issuing pattadar passbook for the latter's land. Based on the complaint lodged by Mallesh, the officials of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) laid a trap and caught Venkatesh red-handedly while taking bribe.

Last week, a VRO of Kojjavanampally in Nawabpet of Vikarabad was caught while accepting bribe of Rs 4,000 from a farmer. The VRO, Ramulu demanded the bribe for entering 3.29 acres of farmland in the name of the farmer's father.
