Wakf Board, Revenue records to be synced

Hyderabad: As part of measures to curtail encroachment of Wakf properties, the Telangana State Wakf Board has decided to send copies of all its records to the Revenue department and to ensure reconciliation is achieved at the earliest.

At a meeting in Wakf Board office in Haj House on Wednesday, chairman Mohd Saleem, who presided, said that in the wake of the orders issued by the Government vide GO 15, to ban new registrations of Wakf properties, the board will send copies of records to the Revenue department.

Saleem said that the TS government and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao were keen to protect Wakf properties hence the GO 15 was issued. "The work of reconciliation of Wakf records and cancellation of registration on Wakf properties is under progress," he stated.

He said a total of 77 agenda items were discussed during the meeting, as part of the development and protection of Wakf properties in the State. "Elaborate discussions took place as to how to generate income of the Wakf Board. Twenty-three managing committees are constituted for the management of masjids and dargahs.

Six Muthawallis are appointed. Construction permission has been given to some Masjids and their boundary walls and properties are being developed.

Two new properties are registered in the Wakf record," Saleem explained. "Further, it was discussed and resolved to construct toilets and bathroom at Dargah Jahangir Peer and Dargah Yakoob Shaheed, Warangal, to provide facilities to devotees," he added.

Saleem asked contractors not to harass devotees and requested managements to maintain cleanliness at masjids and dargahs and provide graveyard land for free burials. The meeting was attended by Mirza Anwar Baig, Zaker Hussain Javed, Dr Sofia Begum, Abdul Waheed, Dr. Nisar Hussain Hyder Aga, Malik Mohtashim, Syed Shah Akber Nizamuddin Hussaini and Mohd Khasim, Chief Executive Officer.
