Hyderabad's IKEA store closed temporarily amid coronavirus scare
Popular home furnishing retailer IKEA has closed its store in Hyderabad temporarily as a precautionary measure to control the spread of coronavirus. However, the customers will be able to buy online.
It asked the customers to cooperate with the move that initiated to ensure the safety of its customers and co-workers. "The store will not be opened until the further notice from the government," IKEA's CEO Peter Betzel said in a communication to its customers.
"If you are IKEA customers in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune, you can still continue shopping at IKEA.in," he said.
This comes after the deadly coronavirus positive cases have risen in the city and the government advised to avoid gatherings and IKEA is one of the places that usually witnesses heavy rush. "All co-workers at IKEA have been asked to work from home to secure IKEA country operations and critical capabilities," he said.
