Khammam: Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate from Khammam Parliamentary seat Nama Nageswara Rao, in a chit chat with The Hans India reporter Kishore Kumar Thallapally, shares his plans to take the Khammam district onto the path of development, besides the strategies to emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.

1Q: How is the campaign process going and how is the people's response to it?

A: It has been a very good start for us. The cadre is very excited and determined to make the party candidates win the polls. Although the party wasn't able to perform well in the Assembly elections, we saw a wave of migrations from Telugu Desam and Congress. Every leader and party member is determined to see that TRS wins the polls.

2Q: How do you respond to Congress MP candidate Renuka Chowdhury's comments who stated that although Nama left the party, the cadre is still loyal to TDP?

A: I took the decision to join TRS after discussing at length with my followers. Most of the TDP cadre at village and mandal levels has resigned and joined the TRS and we have a lot of support at the ground level. Everyone knows that I am the person who made TDP prominent in Khammam district. And every TDP party member knows what I did for the party and the district as a whole, and they will be loyal to me even when I am in TRS party.

3Q: Although Ponguleti said he would work for TRS, he never said he would work for your victory. How do you respond to the rumors that there is a lack of coordination between Ponguleti and you?

A: There is no truth to such rumours. He is loyal to the party and will support the party candidates in the election. He will participate in the campaign in the next few days.

4Q: You are working with your past political rivals now. Did they heartily receive your leadership in the party? Are they cooperative?

A: Every party candidate is happy that I am here and the party leadership is determined to win the polls. Every candidate is cooperative. Although, myself and Khammam MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar used to be political rivals, the latter has promised to help me achieve a majority of more than 50,000 votes in the upcoming elections.

5Q: How do you think the results would be?

A: We will definitely win this election. Our party is very strong now and the support is still growing and we expect a huge majority.

6Q: What do you promise to the people of Khammam as their representative?

A: As the person who is working for Khammam district for over two decades, I know the problems that my people face and will work towards resolving them. I am one of the persons who voted in favour of the separate Telangana. After we got separated, many promises that have been made to us in the AP Reorganisation Act are not fulfilled. Particularly, I will work towards forcing the Central government to fulfill its promises like four track road lines, railway line besides Bayyaram steel plant and a mining university. The Sitarama project works are underway which are taken up with 18,000 crore budget. Once it is over, we will supply farming water to 10 lakh acres.

7Q: Do you think Renuka Chowdhury is a worthy opponent against you?

A: This is the third time we are competing against each other. Earlier, we won over each other. I was able to defeat her when she was a central minister in Congress government and it wouldn't be hard for me to defeat her now.

8Q: Any key leaders participating in the campaign?

A: Many senior leaders from the state committee like Nukala Naresh Reddy, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and others are going to participate in the campaign. Our leader KCR will be attending a public meeting on April 4 to address the people of Khammam.

9Q: How do you respond to the allegations that you joined the pink party to escape the CBI investigation?

A: It's false that there is a CBI inquiry against me. My name was nowhere in the accused or the suspects list.

10Q: What would you like to convey to the people of Khammam through The Hans India?

A: I would like to request them to give me an opportunity to serve the underserved and oppressed communities in the district. With the support of our leader KCR we hope to develop Khammam district in the next five years and I would like to appeal to the people of Khammam to give me an opportunity to serve them.
