Increase average speed to improve punctuality: SCR GM

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Gajanan Mallya advised the officials to focus on eliminating the speed restrictions to minimal and increase the average speed of the trains to improve punctuality as per the targets fixed by Railway Board.

The SCR General Manager conducted a detailed review meeting on Safety, Punctuality and Freight loading on Tuesday at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad along with Principal Heads of Departments. The Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded attended the meeting through video conference.

Gajanan Mallya held a detailed review of Signal & Telecommunication failures, Loco failures and Carriage & Wagon failures which are affecting the operational schedules. He advised the DRMs to reduce the failures which are affecting the train punctuality by taking up the proper maintenance schedules in monsoon season. He also advised the Divisions to conduct mock drills at short notices to check the alertness levels of the staff and preparedness to tackle unusual occurrences.

Gajanan Mallya instructed the workshop officials to retrofit the Bio-Toilets in all the originating trains by the end of December-2019. He instructed the Divisional officials to provide the watering facility to trains at Kondapalli / Rayanapadu which are proceeding without touching Vijayawada station.
