Inculcate scientific temper among children: Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod
Mahabubabad: Education is the most powerful weapon and the TRS government is working towards this insight, Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod said. Speaking at the district-level science fair here on Tuesday, she said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who believed in the power of education, has established a large number of Gurukul Schools that no other State in the country has.
"The CM, who noticed that girls turning dropouts after Intermediate, has started 53 degree residential schools exclusively for them to continue their higher education," Satyavathi said. Referring to the Arogya Lakshmi scheme, she said that the programme was aimed at providing nutritional support to pregnant and lactating women to keep them healthy.
She directed the teachers and wardens to take care of the children in welfare hostels besides imparting them quality education.
"The onus is on teachers to develop scientific temper among the students right from the tender age. Science fairs are the right platforms for the young minds to demonstrate their creativity," she said. Satyavathi assured that she would speak to Education Minister and pursue her to set up a science centre in the district. She directed the officials to focus on ensuring Mahabubabad ahead of all other districts in the education. Further she told them to ensure parents committee meetings held in all schools. The CM had already announced to establish a medical college for Mahabubabad and now has given Rs 60 crore for upgrading the Area Hospital into a 300-bed facility.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson A Bindu, MLCA Narsi Reddy, MLA Shankar Naik and District Collector Ch Shivalingaiah were among others present.
In another development, the Minister, who attended a programme organised as part of 'International Day of Disabled Persons', said that due to the initiative of KCR, the disabled in the State were receiving Rs 3,016 a month. She directed the officials to ensure pension to all the eligible without fail.
