Indian Medical Association takes out cycle rally to spread green message in Nalgonda
Nalgonda: Doctors of Indian Medical Association Neelagiri branch of Nalgonda district celebrated World Environment Day on Wednesday. A cycle rally was taken out by the doctors. Organisation state council member Dr Jayaprakash Reddy flagged off the rally.
IMA Neelagiri branch president Dr Pulla Rao, speaking on this occasion, said that as part of social responsibility the IMA has been conducting several service-oriented activities and World Environment Day celebrations was part of it. He appealed to the people to protect the environment from pollution for good health. Doctors Murthy, Kiran and Raghavender Reddy emphasised on the need to pay special attention to increasing pollution and reducing forest area and added that such issues must be addressed war on footing to protect future generations from the harmful effects of pollution. Dr Jayaprakash Reddy said the increasing summer heat, severe water shortage and fall in groundwater were due to the damage being done to the environment by the society.
He criticized citizens who use motor vehicles even for short distance instead of walking or cycling. He appealed to the citizens to carry shun use of plastic bags and instead make use of cloth bags. He further said government alone cannot protect the environment and it was responsibility of every citizen to save the nature from all sorts of pollutions.
During the cycle rally, the doctors educated people on the streets about the dangers of environmental pollution and appealed to them to plant as many saplings as possible and protect them to save the globe from increasing temperatures.
IMA doctors Harinath, Subba Rao, Vijayakumar, Raji Reddy, Venkat Reddy, Vikram, Anita Rani and the staff of various private hospitals took part in the rally.
