Indian Red Cross Society to start orphanage

Warangal: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Warangal Chapter, has announced that it would set up an orphanage in Warangal soon. Retired IAS officer and IRCS former State Chairman BV Papa Rao revealed this on Sunday. He said Bogavalli Rajeshwar Rao Trust (BRT) has come forward to donate land to the extent of 28 guntas for the purpose in Kothapalli near Ammavaripet, a suburban village of Warangal.

Papa Rao said that IRCS and BRT would enter into a MoU in this regard. "Efforts are on to provide Rs 50,000 a month for the functioning of the orphanage," he said. Terming it as a milestone in the history of IRCS, the Warangal Chapter Chairman Dr P Vijaychander Reddy said that the move bolsters their endeavours in expanding its services in addition to the Thalassemia blood transfusion centre and a geriatric centre.It may be recalled here that the Aarogya Sri services have also been provided to Thalassemia patients recently.

A generic medical shop and a play area for kids suffering from Thalassemia are also being provided. Philanthropist Bhogavalli Rajeshwar Rao, Retired Professor of the NIT M Pandu Ranga Rao, IRCS State Managing Committee Member E V Srinivas Rao, IRCS Warangal vice-chairman Dr K Sudhakar Reddy and Treasurer M Nagaiah were among others present.
