Industrial workers to wage stir for minimum wages: CITU
Patancheru: Centre for Indian Trade Union (CITU) vice president Narsimha Reddy on Friday demanded Rs 21,000 as the minimum wage for industrial workers, so as to be in tune with the rising prices.
While appealing to the workers to actively participate in the dharna at the Labour Department office at Kirbi X Roads in Pashamylaram industrial area on November 5, he alleged that after assuming office this year, the TRS government has not released any GO to benefit workers.
Reddy accused investors of becoming rich with the toils of the workers, even as the latter turned 'bikaris.' He expressed anguish over the bleak scenario. He also criticised investors for performing 'seva' after being voted to power by workers. "If workers are to get wages in proportion to their efforts, the GO should be amended," Reddy demanded.
Speaking after releasing the wall poster on the dharna, along with workers, the CITU leader accused the managements of industries for violating laws by not paying bonus to workers. He demanded action against such managements, as many were not even implementing ESI and PF regulations.
