New Delhi:CPI national secretary, K Narayana, demanded an inquiry by a sitting judge of the High Court into the Intermediate Board affairs and a compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the bereaved families of the students who died after the declaration of the intermediate results, here on Friday.

Addressing a press conference today, he said the education Minister should be sacked and sought criminal proceedings against the private technology company involved in the results fiasco.

Seeking a ban on the Globarina Technology Company which was responsible for the fiasco that led to huge errors in the results declared leading to large scale suicides, Narayana alleged a connection between the politicians and corporate companies. The nefarious activities would come out only if a probe was instituted he said.

He said he had written to the Governor on May 4, 2015 itself pointing out that Globarina was a bogus company and hence, should not have anything to do with the education system. He said the Globarina entered into an agreement with the JNTU whose vice-chancellor was under duress.

Also questioning the neglect of the education department by the government, Narayana said at present there were more number of contract lecturers than permanent lecturers. More and more non-teaching staff was being deputed for evaluation of answer sheets. The combined inefficiency of the company and the Board had led to catastrophic results that claimed 23 young lives.

Narayana asked the government to pay attention to the ills dogging the education system right from corporatisation.
