Inter results fiasco: Protests all over
Warangal: The bungling of Intermediate results drew widespread protests in the erstwhile Warangal district. Holding the State government responsible for the 'goof up' in Intermediate exam results, several students' unions continued protests here on Wednesday.
It may be recalled here that since the Intermediate results announced on April 18, students' associations and parents have been demanding a thorough re-evaluation of the papers of those, who had failed.
Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) State working committee member Punnam Venu and Warangal city general secretary Boda Laxman, who led the protest at Kaloji Junction, squarely blamed the government for not learning lessons from previous failures.
The leaders found fault with the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao for not reviewing the situation even though students and their parents took to streets.
Students, who expected a better future in separate Telangana, were disappointed lot as they got nothing in the TRS regime. Moreover, suicides of students and unemployed youth are unabated, Venu said. Holding Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) Secretary A Ashok responsible for the goof up, he demanded his suspension.
TNSF State coordinator Jatoth Santhosh Naik demanded the resignation of Minister for Education G Jagadish Reddy for the failure in Inter results that led several students commit suicide. He also demanded the government to book criminal cases against those responsible for the mess.
"Instead of listening and responding to the students' grievances, the government was trying to cover up its failure," he alleged.
All India Youth Federation (AIYF) State president Syed Valiullah Kadri, who participated in a protest, accused the TSBIE of resorting to irregularities. He said that the board goofed up the results by entrusting the responsibility to inexperienced Globarena Technologies. He demanded a high-level probe into the issue. Kadri also demanded the TSBIE authorities to undertake recounting and re-evaluation of answer papers free of cost.
The activists of All India Federation of Democratic Students (AIFDS) and All India Students Block (AISB) also staged protests in front of the Regional Joint Director (RJD) Office demanding justice for the students.
Traffic came to a grinding halt for some time on the Warangal–Hyderabad highway, before the police intervened. The police arrested the students and shifted to police station.
