International Persian Summer School concludes at MANUU

Hyderabad: The International Persian Summer School on "Reading and Analyzing Indo-Persian Records" organized by the Department of Persian, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in collaboration with Department of Iranian Studies, University of Gottingen, Germany concluded today.

Twenty-five international scholars attended the summer school which was inaugurated on 19th August.

Prof. Ayub Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, presided over the valedictory held today at Library auditorium. While speaking he said, since the actual history of India is written in Persian, it is necessary to know the language and writing style of that period for authentic historiography. He congratulated the participants and expressed the hope that this school will help in the advancement of their research.

Prof. Eva Orthmann, Director, Professor of Iranian Studies, Gottingen University said that not only the students but she also learnt a lot during the Summer School. She thanked participants, Vice-Chancellor and Pro VC for permitting to organize summer school in MANUU.

Prof. Chander Shekar, Indian Cultural Ambassador to Uzbekistan pointed out that India has a large treasure of history in Persian language but there are no experts available. Dr. Zarina Parveen, Director, Telangana State Archives also spoke on the occasion.

Prof. Aziz Bano, Dept. Of Persian welcomed the gathering. Prof. Shahid Naukhez Azmi, Head, Department of Persian (MANUU), proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Qaiser Ahmed, Assistant Professor conducted the proceedings.
