Interstate thief held 30 lakh ornaments seized in Bhadrachalam
Bhadrachalam (Kothagudem): The Bhadrachalam police on Thursday caught an interstate thief and seized gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 30.50 lakh from his possession.
Presenting the accused before the media, Assistant Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chandra told the press that a team of police has conducted checks at Bhadrachalam bus stand following information about the suspect and caught the accused Vantaram Shiva Kishore Kumar.
The accused belongs to Rajam village of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh. When the police checked the baggage he was carrying, they found nearly 20 kg of silver items and 95 tolas of gold ornaments.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to his crimes. It was found that he had stolen the valuables under the limits of Kothagudem, Khammam, Sathupalli, Cherla, Dummugudem, Sujatha Nagar and Laxmidevipalli police station limits.
Cases of theft were booked against the accused at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Kakinada, Elamanchili, Amudalavalasa and Dantewada police stations and he had undergone imprisonment for some time, the ASP informed. CI Satyanarayana Reddy and staff attended the press meet.
