It's a dream come true for ZP chiefs in Warangal

Warangal: The privilege of saluting the Indian tricolor and receiving the guard of honour at the Independence Day celebration as the chief guest is indeed a rare dream for the people's representatives. Obviously, it was an unforgettable day for the three Zilla Parishad chairpersons Jakku Sri Harshini, Angoth Bindu and Pagala Sampath Reddy, who represent Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mahabubabad and Jangaon districts respectively, who on Thursday unfurled the national flag.

"It's like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It's beyond my imagination that I never expected to be in the forefront of senior citizens, freedom fighters, people's representatives and officials of a district," Jakku Sri Harshini, the ZP Chairperson of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, told The Hans India.

Indeed, it was beyond the imagination for Godavarikhani's Sri Harshini, who did her B Tech in Narayanamma Engineering College in Hyderabad. Sri Harshini didn't know what was in store for her until she got married to Rakesh of Bhupalpally district. All happened in a hurry – entering politics, winning the ZPTC from Kataram mandal and making it to the ZP chief post – for Sri Harshini. Finally, she topped it off by taking the dais as the chief guest at the Independence Day fete on Thursday.

Angoth Bindu, who hails from a nondescript Balya Thanda under Bayyaram mandal in Mahabubabad district and became the youngest ZP chairperson in the State, said: "Once in a blue moon such a rare opportunity knocks your door, and I am on cloud nine. It's awe-inspiring to be there on the dais as the chief guest, hoisting the national flag and taking the guard of honour. It's a huge respect and I will uphold the spirit and the responsibility bestowed on me." It may be mentioned here that Bindu got the honour even her mentor and maternal aunt MLC Satyavathi Rathod could not achieve in her two-decade-old political life.

Both the ZP chiefs thanked the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for giving them the opportunity to be part of the Independence Day celebration as chief guest.
