Jagadish assures replacement within week

Ketepally( Nalgonda): CMO official Smitha Sabharval along with Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy examined the broken 5th crest gate of Musi Project located in Ketepallly mandal in the district and conducted review meeting with the project and irrigation officials and farmers.

She enquired the officials about the reasons behind the incident and their plans to address the issue in the interest of 30,000 ayacut farmers of the project.

Later addressing the media, Minister Jagadish Reddy informed that during the replacing of old crest gates by new gates in 1991, five additional gates were prepared as spare gates for future needs.

However, on request those gates were moved to Tirupathi to fit the gates to Kalyani dam. Of the five gates, only two were used by the Kalayani Dam officials and rest three gates are available to replace the broken gate with new one.

He assured to address the Musi Project gate issue by October 9 or within a week without fail. He assured farmers of left and right canals of Musi Project that government would take care of the irrigation needs of Musi Ayacut farmers by filling the reservoir through SLBC canal after addressing the crest gate issue of the project.

Irrigation ENC Muralidhar Rao and Collectors of Nalgonda and Suryapet districts Gaurav Uppal and Amoy Kumar were also present on occasion.
