Jagjivan Ram remembered on his birth anniversary
Karimnagar: Following the values and thoughts Babu Jagjivan Ram is one of the greatest tribute which will could be paid to the former Dalit leader, advised District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed here on Friday.
The Collector along with Police Commissioner V B Kamalasan Reddy, Joint Collector Shyam Prasad Lal, Assistant Collector Rajarshi Shah and Revenue Officer Bikshu Nayak paid rich tributes to the statue of Babu Jagjivan Ram at Mancherial Chowrastha on the occasion of his 102 birth anniversary in Karimnagar.
Addressing the gathering, the Collector said, "Babu Jagijivan Ram strived hard for upliftment of the weaker sections of society. He fought for the implementation of reservations for Dalits until they became strong both economically and socially. The youth of present generation must follow his path to fulfill his dreams and aspirations."
Police Commissioner V B Kamalsan Reddy said that Jagijivan Ram is an inspiration for everyone. He faced lots of problems in his life. He participated in the Freedom Struggle and reached greater heights. He led many movements for the development of Dalits. Everyone must follow the path shown by Dr. B R Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram who are among the greatest son's born in India.
Deputy Director of Scheduled Castes Welfare Department Bala Surendar, Municipal Commissioner Sathyanarayana, District Agriculture Officer Sridhar and leaders of various Dalith associations were present on the occasion.
