Jagtial: Congress stages maha dharna in support of farmers
Jagtial: The Congress party leaders under the leadership of the district president, Vadluri Lakshman staged a maha dharna in support of farmers' protest, here, in Jagtial district on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion with the media persons, V Lakshman strongly opposed the new agricultural bills introduced by the BJP government and new agriculture policy introduced by the TRS government.
It is very sad to see the present situation of farmers in the State who along with all sections of people fought bravely for achieving separate Telangana State. When the government invested around Rs 12,000 crore for the Mission Bhagiratha project, then, why is it not able to spend just Rs 7,000 crore for the well-being of the farmers, he questioned.
Lakshman alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is playing with the lives of the farmers. He ordered them to cultivate a fine variety of rice and himself cultivated other varieties. When there is no farmer, then there will be no king. The farmers will teach a fitting lesson to CM KCR in the upcoming days, he warned.
Instead of focusing on farmer's issues, the BJP State incharge, Bandi Sanjay Kumar is going around the temples and chanting about Lord Sri Rama, he alleged and said, "Even we are the citizens of India and we too will visit temples and have faith in God, but will never provoke people in the name of God and religion," he said.
If Bandi Sanjay has guts and wants to help the farmers, he must talk to the Central government and take necessary steps for doing justice to the people. But, should not try to divert the attention of the people and play with the lives of the farmers, he demanded.
