Jakkula Maheshwar Reddy elected new Secunderabad Cantonment Board vice-president
Secunderabad: After three months of tug-of-war and the no-confidence motion passed against SCB ex-vice president J Rama Krishna last week, Jakkula Maheshwar Reddy bagged the post of vice-president of Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) from among seven SCB ward members on Monday.
The new vice-president assured massive development works would be taken up in this coming 45 days. The tenure of new vice-president is only for 45 days, as the present SCB council tenure expires on February 10.
Speaking to The Hans India, Maheshwar Reddy, said, "During my term I will try to take up all development activities that are needed in the Cantonment limits. In the last three months, many development works such as road-widening works, development of Ramannakunta lake started. Development and cleaning works of Panty Nala would be taken up very soon. An amount of Rs 43 crore was sanctioned by the State government to SCB to take up all the development works."
As Rs 16 crore was waived off towards water tariff by the State government, each household would get a sufficient discount in their water bills. "We are trying to get the free water supply scheme implemented in SCB limits as well. We will also take steps to bring the water wing of Cantonment under the HMWSSB), so that various issues of SCB can be resolved and there would be sufficient water supply," he said.
He also assured to take up road closure issue in the SCB. In the coming 45 days, the State government has promised us to sanction Rs 11 crore for various works including re-carpeting of roads, construction of few community halls and any more, he added.
