Jalabhishekam performed to Martyrs' Memorial

Hyderabad: The TRS leaders on Monday performed 'Jalabhishekam' to the Martyrs' Memorial at Gun Park here on Monday, with Godavari waters collected from Kaleshwaram project, to mark announcement of Telangana State on December 9 by the Central government.

Ramagundam MLA K Chander, MLC Karne Prabhakar, TSIIC Chairman G Balamallu and other leaders participated in 'Jalabhishekam'.

Talking to reporters, Chander said that Monday was the day when Union government announced taking steps for formation of Telangana State because of the hunger strike by the TRS party chief K Chandrashekar Rao.

The chief minister has constructed Kaleshwaram Project to store the Godavari water which was getting wasted into the sea, said Chander.

MLC Karne Prabhakar said that December 9 was the day when people of Telangana believed that separate State can be achieved.

"The hunger strike was started on November 29 and the statement on Telangana was announced on December 9. People should remember December 9. We will always remember the martyrs' and their sacrifices," said Prabhakar.
