Jazzing up Huzurnagar bypoll: CPI to support TRS

Update: 2019-10-02 03:07 IST

Hyderabad: In an interesting move, the Communist Party of India has decided to support the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the ensuing Huzurnagar byelections.

The party leaders have discussed it for about five hours on the request from the ruling party to support its candidate in Huzurnagar.

The TRS leaders had requested the CPI to support its candidate S Saidi Reddy in Huzurnagar against the Congress party's candidate N Padmavathi Reddy.

TRS leaders led by Parliamentary party leader K Keshava Rao met CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy and requested for support after coming to know about their intensions not to contest the elections.

After the TRS, the Congress party leaders too sought the support of CPI to their candidate. Chada Venkat Reddy in a statement issued to media said that they would be supporting the ruling party candidate in Huzurnagar.

Meanwhile, there will be no candidate from either of the left parties in Huzurnagar as the nomination of CPM candidate P Shekhar Rao was rejected by the commission.

It is learnt that the CPM candidate failed to fill up all the columns in the nomination forms leading to rejection of his nomination. It would be interesting to note whom the CPM would be supporting.
