Junior doctors strike against NMC Bill continues in Nizamabad

Nizamabad: Junior doctors on Friday boycotted emergency medical services of the hospital for the second consecutive day.

Junior doctors have been protesting the National Medical Commission Bill that was recently passed in the Parliament.

The junior doctors in the district has took out a procession from the district hospital to the Collectorate on Friday in Nizamabad.

Apart from members of Telangana Junior Doctors Association, Nizamabad Medical College president Deepak Babu, vice-president Yashwanth and hundreds of junior doctors participated in the procession.

They have demanded that Section 32 says limited licence may be granted to those connected with the medical profession to practice medicine as community health providers.

Section 50 is about educational modules or programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate courses across medical system and to promote medical pluralism.

JUDA president Deepak Babu said the Central government has failed to protect public health by allowing people connected with modern medicine to practice as community health providers. There is no clarity over

who will be the community health provider and what their minimum qualification is. Yashwanth demanded sections 32 and 50 should be removed from NMC Bill.
