Kamareddy: Red gram farmers on Tuesday demanded the Agriculture Officer to procure the crop and also to take action against the agriculture officer, who submitted a false report about the total yield of red gram. They criticised that the State government had forgot its promise of purchasing red gram at a minimum support price.

According to sources, 17,500 quintals of red gram has been produced in Jukkal mandal, which borders three States. But the purchasing centres hadn't purchased the crop due to a mistake made by the mandal agriculture officer concerned about the quantity of the yield that will arrive the market yards.

It came to know that the agriculture officer has submitted a false report stating that 4,000 quintals of red gram produced in the mandal. As the government gave permission to purchase the said quantity, the purchasing centre purchased 3,650 quintals only and closed.

The false report had badly hit the farmers, whose yield was not purchased. For the past three days, the farmers have kept their red gram in the godown premises since the centre has stopped purchasing from them.
