Karimnagar: Conserve water for sustenance of mankind

Karimnagar: The volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS) must feel water conservation as their responsibility along with creating awareness among the people about the importance of this natural resource, which is being polluted day-by-day, said Satavahana University Science College Principal Dr. M Sarasija.

A three-day seminar on Jal Shakti Abhiyan was organised under NSS Cell of Satavahana University here at the seminar hall of the Science College on Friday.

Attending as a chief guest, Satavahana University Registrar U Umesh Kumar said that water will play an important role in the body of all living organisms without which any organism in the world cannot survive.

In fact, water plays a key role in the daily life of human beings. To create awareness among the people about the importance of water, the Central government had introduced Jal Shakti Abhiyan.

UNICEF project director and special officer B Prabhakar said that water is one of important natural renewable resources, which reaches and depletes from earth in the form of cycle.

The people must recycle it and must reuse it without wasting. Now-a-days people are facing problems with water shortage. Youth of the present generation must understand the severity of this problem and must create awareness among the people by educating the people on Jal Shakti Abhiyan, he appealed.

NABARD Deputy Division Manager Ananthulu said that underground water levels are depleting day-by-day due to excessive digging of bore wells in towns and cities. The world is in danger as the water levels are decreasing every year. It is the responsibility of every one of us to strive for a green world and green nation by conserving water resources, he suggested.

NSS Coordinator Dr D Harikanth, Arts College Principal Dr Jafar, NSS programme officials Bhagya Lakshmi, D Vijay Prakash, Vijay Kumar and Srinu were present along with 200 members of NSS volunteers.
