Karimnagar: Extend BC hostel admission dates

Karimnagar: Backward Class Student Union district president Jakkani Sanjay Kumar demanded that the government should extend the dates of admissions into BC welfare hostels of girls and boys present in Karimnagar city.

The union members staged a dharna in front of BC welfare office here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, J Sanjay Kumar said that there are six engineering, 16 degree, six pharmacy, 24 Junior, 10 PG and six B Ed colleges in Karimnagar town under Satavahana University. Thousands of poor students from north Telangana will come to Karimnagar to pursue higher education in various courses in the colleges in Karimnagar and will apply for a seat in BC welfare hostels established

by the government for accommodation as they cannot afford private hostels, he stated. At present the admission process in various courses like engineering, degree, PG and pharmacy are not yet completed but the officials of BC welfare department have closed the admissions into welfare hostels, he alleged.

Before joining the colleges, how students can apply for accommodation in welfare hostels? Without giving any information and notification, how the BC welfare department officials can close admissions? he questioned.

Sanjay Kumar requested the government to extend the last date of application for admission into BC welfare hostels to do justice to poor students. Otherwise, they would intensify the movement to teach the government a fitting lesson, he warned.

The police intervened and arrested the union leaders, who were staging the dharna. BC Student Union members Vijay Kumar, Anil Yadav, P Sanjay, Mahendar, Anil, Sameer and Revanth were present along with others.
