Karimnagar: Fulfil promises made to journalists, TUWJ demands government
Karimnagar: The lives of journalists has become miserable in the newly formed Telangana State, alleged Nagunuri Shekar, the State president of Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ-IJU).
TUWJ-IJU members staged a dharna at several mandal headquarters across in the district on Thursday, as part of the call given by TUWJ State committee, demanding the government solution to their issues. They raised slogans against the government and later submitted a memorandum to Tahsildars in various mandals.
Speaking on the occasion, TUWJ-IJU State N Shekar alleged that during the separate Telangana movement, journalists played an active role thinking that their lives would become better after the formation of separate State. But after the formation of separate Telangana, journalists' lives have become even worse. Even after completion of five years of ruling, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao did not fulfil even a single promise he made to scribes.
He demanded the government fulfilment of its poll promises of allotting house plots, issuing health cards and to suspend GO 239. Otherwise they would intensify the agitation to teach the government a fitting lesson, he warned.
TUWJ-IJU members Srinivas, Maruthi, Sharath, Anjaneyulu, Ravinder, Vijaysimha Rao, Madhukar, Narasingoju, Mahendra Chary, Vijay Bhaskar, Shukar, Jagan Mohan, Ravindra Chary, Imam, Asad, Sandeep, Prem Kumar, Rajaiah, Rajendar and Muthyam were present along with others.
