Karimnagar: The Karimnagar is considered as Smart City only for namesake, but the roads in every nook and corner in the city are in worst condition and filled with pits and holes, criticised Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) district secretary G Thirupathi. DYFI members staged a dharna by planting saplings in the water-filled road at Telangana Chowk here on Friday showing the worst condition of the roads in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, G Thirupathi alleged that the roads in the city will turn into pools even for a little rain due to the negligence of municipal and R&B officials and public representatives. Every year, about Rs 100 crores funds will be released for the development of the city under Smart City. But there is no quality in the developmental works that were taken up by the officials due to which the roads and drainage system is in bad condition in the city, he added.

The officials must react immediately and take necessary measures for filling up the pits to prevent accidents and must maintain quality in the works that are taken up under Smart City, Thirupathi demanded.

DYFI leaders D Naresh Patel, G Suresh, Sampath Rathod, Rajan, G Kishan Naik and Reddy were present along with others.
