Karimnagar Municipal Corporation to charge only 1 for cremating bodies
Karimnagar: From now onwards, the cremation of bodies under Karimnagar Municipal Corporation limits will be conducted for Rs 1 only, City Mayor Ravinder Singh announced at a press meet at Lotus Conference hall in Karimnagar on Monday.
Speaking to the media, the Mayor said they decided to take just Rs one for cremating bodies so as to help the poor and middle-class people living under Karimnagar Municipal Corporation (KMC) limits. This unique decision was taken after observing the problems of poor people in cremating the bodies of their relatives, as they couldn't bear the cost involved in it, he added.
Mayor Ravinder Singh also said that from hereafter the responsibility of cremating bodies will be taken up by KMC. About 2,000 jawans will coordinate the process for implementing the good work successfully under the KMC limits. The family members of the deceased have to pay Rs one to the KMC, which will do the cremation along with providing sandal wood, normal wood and kerosene free of cost. If they want to bury the body as per their tradition, then the KMC people will dig a pit for the purpose, he added.
The KMC is also arranging two vehicles so that the family members of the deceased could conduct the final procession and can bring the body to the place where cremation process is organised, Mayor Ravinder Singh stated.
