Karimnagar: Official urges people not to waste precious food
Karimnagar: Eating nutritious food improves immunisation, Child Development Project Officer, Karimnagar Rural Sabitha said at World Food Day organised at Anganwadi centre in Nustulapur village of Thimmapur mandal on Wednesday.
She told the participants not to waste food as many people have no food and suffering from malnutrition. Growing kitchen gardens in the premises of houses, schools and Anganwadi centres will provide quality vegetables and fruits without much expenditure. Asking pregnant and lactating women to have one full meal at Anganwadi centre under Arogya Lakshmi, Sabita said it will help in reducing anaemia among women and improve both mother and baby's weight. She said one can keep the doctor away by eating nutritious food.
As part of Poshan Abhiyan, Anganwadi teachers are conducting awareness programmes for various groups of beneficiaries like rallies, melas, suposhan diwas, food exhibitions, demonstrations, community-based events etc involving public representatives, NGOs, youths, farmers, women groups.
World Food Day programmers are also conducted in Manakondur, Thimmapur, Keshavapatnam, Chigurumamidi and Ganneruvaram mandals of Karimnagar rural district. Poshan Abhiyan project coordinator Manasa, assistant Raju, supervisor Swarupa Rani, Anganwadi teacher Rajita and others participated in the programme.
