Karimnagar: People asked to prevent violence against women
Karimnagar: Every individual in the society must respect women and must create awareness among others about the violence that is taking place against women and how to prevent it, appealed to Joint Collector Shyam Prasad Lal.
He inaugurated a poster of 'Preventing violence against women' that was published under Women Development, Child Welfare and Sakhi centers for creating awareness among the people about prevention of violence and molestation against women and girls, which is increasing each day, at the Collectorate's conference hall here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Joint Collector said that everyone must come forward to prevent violence against women. They must treat their women colleagues and workers like their sisters. It is the social responsibility of the people to give not only protection to the women and girl children but also to respect them and allow them to live their life with dignity, he added.
The Central government took a decision and suggested to celebrate November 25 as International Day for preventing violence against women for a period of two years, he informed.
Later, Joint Collector Shyam Prasad Lal along with other district officials observed two minutes silence and paid tributes to Disha, who was brutally raped and murdered.
