Karimnagar: The city gas distribution project will be taken up by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for every household under the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation (KMC) limits, said District Collector K Shashanka. He held a review meeting with the city Municipal Commissioner, IOC representatives and engineers of Roads and Buildings department here at the Collectorate camp office on Wednesday.

Addressing the participants, Collector Shashanka said at present there are 60,000 households under KMC limits, and it will take around eight years to distribute gas to every household through IOC.

The R&B department will lay pipeline for a stretch of 12.3 kilometres in the city during the first phase and in the second phase, pipeline for a stretch of 100 kilometres will be laid down, he explained.

The Collector said that since road laying works worth Rs 300 crore under Chief Minister Guarantee Scheme are going on along with the works under Smart City project, the roads will get damaged if drilling is done on the roads, which were already constructed. So, he ordered the engineers of R&B department to prepare perfect route map along with roadsides not to damage the already laid roads.

Shashanka ordered the officials to hand over the proposals, where the IOC representatives are going to lay pipelines within one week. "We will check the proposals thoroughly for any problems and permission will be given to the IOC for laying pipelines if there are no problems," he clarified.

Superintendent Engineer Bhadraiah, R&B department Superintendent Engineer Raghavachary, EE Venkata Ramana, IOC Chief Manager Srikanth, Project Engineers B Sharath and Jagadish were present along with others.
