Karimnagar: Proposal to give cheque power to sarpanches

Karimnagar: Panchayat Raj Minister Erraballi Dayakar Rao said that he will bring up a bill in the Assembly proposing to give cheque power to sarpanches. Along with Health Minister Eatala Rajender, he inaugurated new building of Zilla Parishad and local body training centres here on Wednesday.

Zilla Parishad general body meeting took place under the chairmanship of Tula Uma. Speaking at the meeting, Dayakar Rao said all welfare activities and administration power will be given to local bodies only. Already Rs 45,000 crores were expended for Mission Bhagiratha and another Rs 10,000 crores is needed to complete this, he informed.

He assured that there will be no drinking water scarcity across the State, while appreciating the efforts of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The increased pension of the differently abled will be distributed by local officials only from July 1.

Speaking on this occasion, Health Minister Eatala Rajender said that every constituency is getting Rs 1,000 crores, which never happened before. 'As a Finance Minister earlier, I got maximum resources sanctioned to this district. Now as a Health Minister, I hope to make a difference in this field also,' he stated.

MLAs Gangula Kamalakar and Sunke Ravishanker, MLC Naradasu Lakshman Rao, Teachers MLC Kura Raghotham Reddy, Corporation Chairmen DCMS Muduganti Surender Reddy, Irrigation Corporation chairman E Shankar Reddy, Karimnagar Diary chairman Rajeshwar Rao, ZPTCs, MPTCs and others participated in the meeting.
