Karimnagar to become second most important city: Minister Gangula Kamalakar

Karimnagar: The Karimnagar will become the second most important city in the State once the Smart City project works are completed, said BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar.

He held a review meeting with the officials concerned along with the contractors and discussed road planning, removal of encroachments, road widening works and laying of new roads under the Smart City Project, here on Friday.

After inspecting the works that are in progress under the Smart city project at Kisan Nagar, Minister Kamalakar asked the people to extend their cooperation in the beautification works of the city, as the works are going on at a quicker pace. The smart road works are taken up under three packages. 20 to 30 feet wide roads will be widened to 60 feet by removing encroachments if found any on the roads. Around 21 main roads are being selected under package I and II under the project. At present the road widening works are in progress in Housing Board Colony in the city under Package-I, he informed.

The Minister said Karimnagar will be transformed into a beautiful city within two years with the completion of works under the Smart City Project to make it the second most important city in the State after Hyderabad.

Municipal Commissioner Venugopal Reddy, former Deputy Mayor G Ramesh, former corporators A Saritha, Ashok, and K Srinivas, TRS leaders Ch Hari Shankar, Chitumallu, Srinivas, N Ravi Verma and D Sridhar were among those present.
