Huzurnagar: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and party Nalgonda MP candidate N Uttam Kumar Reddy, in an exclusive interview with The Hans India, opines that Parliament elections and Assembly elections are as different as chalk and and cheese as voters think on a larger and national perspective while electing members for the Lower House of the Parliament.

Exemplifying Jeevan Reddy's defeat in Assembly elections conducted through Electronic Voting Machines and his recent victory in MLC elections that were conducted through ballot system, Uttam reiterated his doubt over the functioning of EVMs.

"Congress will win majority of MP seats if polls are conducted in a fair and free manner," he underlined, adding that many sections of the society were unhappy with the functioning of the TRS government, "particularly learnt people, graduates , teachers have shown their angst against the pink party in the recently-held MLC elections."

"In a process of making his son KT Rama Rao the Chief Minister of the State, K Chandrashekar Rao is expecting a threat from his nephew and former Minister Harish Rao. To checkmate the plans of Harish, KCR, giving up on ethics, has been encouraging party defections for his son's political future," Uttam alleged.

Hitting out Congress leaders who have defected to the TRS, the TPCC chief said that the Congress had given political life and key posts to a majority of party defected leaders. He questioned them as to how far it was correct to shift their loyalties to pink party when the Congress was in trouble?

He ruled out group politics within the party and informed that all leaders of the party were collectively working to clinch the Parliament elections.

Countering Education Minister Jagadish Reddy's comment that he should be in Parliament elections fray after resigning from the MLA post, Uttam asked Jagadish Reddy to invite other parties MLAs into TRS fold after they have resigned to their posts.

Stating that regional parties are no way connected with the Parliament elections, the TPCC president alleged that the TRS was planning to win MP elections by distributing money and liquor.

Adding that poor people were expressing their pleasure over Rahul Gandhi's brainchild scheme Nyuntam Aay Yojana (minimum income scheme), Uttam exuded confidence that Congress would win 10 to 12 MP seats in the State.

Stating that his rival TRS candidate, Vemireddy Narsimha Reddy, is not a competitor to him, Uttam said he was going to win Nalgonda MP seat with 2 lakh record majority.

He further added that the State would witness a pro-Congress wave after AICC chief Rahul Gandhi's whirlwind election campaign tour in the State on Monday.
