KCR takes stock of LS poll debacle
Hyderabad: Taken aback by the setback the party had received in the Lok Sabha elections where the number of TRS seats have reduced from 11 to nine, TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met the newly-elected members to Lok Sabha along with MLAs from the respective Assembly segments to review the political situation.
It is learnt that a thorough review of the way BJP succeeded in making inroads and how Congress which lost Assembly elections also succeeded in winning some seats is understood to had come up for discussion.
According to sources, the TRS president said that though they have done well to win nine seats for the party, there were some lapses which needs to be examined in depth.
Otherwise there was no reason for the party to lose two of its constituencies. The party was expecting to win 16 seats but lost two of the sitting MPs.
The party president said this indicates that there was a gap among the leaders in the constituencies. There was gap between MLAs and Ministers and such small mistakes have cost the party, said the TRS chief in the meeting, according to sources.
The meeting of the leaders with KCR was different this time as former minister T Harish Rao was also with the MLAs who met him. Sources said that Harish Rao was sitting in the fourth row.
Seeing this KCR called Harish Rao and congratulated him specially and appreciated stating that he had done a good job by getting higher margin in the constituency. The CM said that the MLAs and leaders had good coordination among themselves and this led to victory of the party, said TRS sources.
The TRS leaders brought to the notice of the chief minister that though Congress had won in some seats, the margin was low. The TRS leaders brought to the notice of the party chief that the "Road Roller" symbol played a spoilsport for the party in Bhongir.
The leaders reportedly informed KCR that there was some impact of BJP campaign and also the Modi wave helped the BJP to make inroads in Telangana.
The leaders pointed out that the BJP leaders cashed in on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's image and also took advantage of the surgical strike.
The chief minister asked the party leaders to focus on the development and take the good works of the government to the people.
