KCR-Vijayan Rendezvous : TRS hopes big, but…
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's meeting with his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday kicked up a political debate on the possible entry of the Left parties into KCR's Federal Front, which the TRS claims to be an alternative to the BJP and Congress at the national level.
TRS leaders are confident that the meeting between KCR and Vijayan will yield positive results in the coming days.
The present political scenario gave a clear indication that majority of regional parties and Left parties are not interested in supporting either the Congress or the BJP as the two national parties have failed to live up to the people's expectations during their respective regimes during the last 20 years.
The only option before the Left and regional political outfits is to form a Front and check the Congress and the BJP from assuming power at the Centre.
The TRS leaders said, "KCR has been in touch with Vijayan for the past two years and the Telangana CM will continue to maintain cordial relations with his Kerala counterpart."
A senior leader said they were confident that the Left parties will join the Front after the election results.
Talking to the media after the meeting with KCR on Monday, Vijayan said the regional parties will play a prominent role at the Centre after the elections.
"The meeting with KCR is significant. We discussed national political scenario. According to KCR, both the Fronts led by the BJP and Congress will not get majority.
So, the regional parties will play a prominent role." He said his party would take a decision about the future course of action depending upon the situation at that time.
He said during his meeting with KCR there was no discussion about the PM candidate.
CPI national general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy ruled out any possibility of the Left parties sailing with the Federal Front.
Reddy said joining hands with KCR's Front does not arise as the Left parties are inclined to join hands with the group of secular parties for which the Congress is getting ready to lead after the announcement of the poll results.
KCR's Front has no takers so far because the TRS chief is yet to finalise the political strategy of the Federal Front, he said, and suspected the KCR's sincerity in mobilising support to his Front because a majority of the regional parties have already joined the Congress-led UPA.
