KCR wants to see farmers happy: Harish
Hyderabad: Former Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's main aim is to bring happiness on the faces of farmers and soon there would be prosperity among people of Telangana.
The TRS leader was addressing a meeting of the NRI Cell of the party at Florida in the US. Harish Rao hailed the NRIs for their contribution during the Telangana movement and in the progress of the State.
"The credit for spreading our culture and tradition in foreign countries goes to the NRIs," he said. The Telangana State has become a role model for the country with its programmes.
"People will definitely see happiness on the faces of farmers and they will prosper in the coming two years.
Earlier it was said that West Bengal is the role model and there were talks of Kerala model but now everywhere Telangana is referred as the role model," said Rao.
Harish Rao said that Telangana was the only State in the country which was providing 24-hour power supply to the farmers for free.
Chief Minister KCR's main intention is to provide water to one crore acres in Telangana by taking up programmes like irrigation projects and Mission Kakatiya.
Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, seed distribution and marketing facilities have also helped the farmers, he added.
"It will take some time for a seed to become a plant and KCR is trying to make the State happier," said Harish Rao.
Harish Rao said that these days the different professionals were also getting attracted towards farming.
"We have seen the days when people migrated to America and other countries to become engineer, doctor and other professionals but these days many are getting attracted towards farming.
In the coming four years, agriculture will become a profession to be proud of," said Rao.
