KCR will even demolish Charminar, warns V Hanumantha Rao
Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary V Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday warned MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would also demolish the Charminar if Owaisi continues to support the TRS chief.
Addressing the media, he said it was atrocious on the part of the Chief Minister to demolish a heritage building to satisfy his ego.
He said Errum Manzil was a heritage structure and needs to be protected.
Hanumantha Rao said he visited Errum Manzil, where the government has been proposing to build new Assembly building, on Tuesday. He said there should be a policy to protect all the heritage structures.
The AICC secretary said he would conduct an opinion poll on the construction of new buildings for secretariat and Assembly. He said he has conducted similar poll when the government proposed to construct secretariat building at Bison Polo Grounds.
"In that poll about 97.7 people opposed the idea of constructing secretariat buildings at the Bison Polo Grounds. I hope people would also reject construction of Assembly building at Errum Manzil," he said.
Hanumantha Rao said the present Assembly building has accommodated 294 Assembly members during the regime of the combined State. There were old and new Assembly halls.
