Khammam: 2 interstate thieves held; cops recover 43.66 lakh property

Khammam: The CCS personnel along with the Khammam one town police arrested two interstate burglars and recovered nearly Rs 43.66 lakh worth property from their possession.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Khammam Commissioner of Police (CP) Tafseer Iqubal said that while a team, comprising Central Crime Station and one town police station officials, was conducting vehicle inspections at Ravichettu centre in Khammam they found two persons acting in a suspicious manner.

The police took the duo into custody and interrogated them, during which they revealed their identity and confessed of committing various property offences. The accused were identified as Nadimpally Venkata Vinay of Ayyappa Colony, Dammaiguda in Hyderabad and Dwarampudi Venkateshwara Reddy of Ravulapalem, Kommarajulanka in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

The Commissioner said that Vinay committed nearly 17 property offences in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra while Venkateshwara Reddy (28), a mason, committed many property offences in AP, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The police recovered 1.40 kilogram gold ornaments, 9.692 kilogram silverware, one laptop and one 55 inch LED television which they stole from nine houses (two in Rachakonda Commissionerate limits, three in Khammam Commissionerate limits and four in Hubli of Karnataka), Commissioner said. The arrested were booked under relevant sections and produced before the court for judicial remand. The CP appreciated CCS CI G Ravi, one town inspector B Ramesh, ASI GS Kishan Rao and other staff for their work.

Additional DCPs D Muralidhar and I Puja, ACPs Jahangir and PV Ganesh were also present.
