Khammam: Call to keep Khammam city clean

Khammam: Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar gave a call to Khammam residents to take the responsibility of keeping city clean. He launched and participated in clean and green programme at Lakaram tank bund jointly taken up by the Khammam Municipal Corporation and NCC on Monday here. The Minister, civic body commissioner, mayor and others cleared the bushes and garbage on the tank bund. He made an appeal to the people to cooperate with the sanitation staff for ensuring cleanliness in the city. If residents keep their premises clean then automatically city becomes beautiful and a role model to other cities in the State, he said, adding plans are afoot to improve facilities at Lakaram tank bund.

Few years ago, Lakaram tank was not a place to visit but after the TRS government coming to power, it spent Rs 20 crore and made it second tank bund in the State after tank bund in Hyderabad, he stated. Earlier, the Minister inaugurated 5 garbage collection vans and one compactor at Lakaram tank.
