Khammam: Congress demands 33% quota in civic polls
Khammam: District Congress Committee president P Durga Prasad demanded the State government give 33 per cent reservation to Backward Classes (BCs) in the upcoming municipal elections. Addressing the media in the office on Thursday, he slammed the TRS government and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for not giving importance to BCs and added that the Chief Minister had failed to keep his poll promises.
Accusing the CM of neglecting several issues in the State, Prasad recalled that the Congress government had implemented 33 per cent quota to BCs in all elections. He asked the party leaders and supporters to fight for BC reservation in municipal polls and added that protests would be conducted by the party in all municipalities in this regard soon. City Congress president MD Javed, senior leader P Venkaiah, OBC chairman P Veerabhadram, BC leaders M Sekhar Goud, MD Hussain, G Venkanna, N Ravi, Ranga Raju and CH Nagesh and others attended the meeting.
