Khammam: Congress, Left activists back farmers' demands

Leaders of Congress, Left parties, New Democracy and other parties staging a protest in Khammam town on Monday

Khammam: Ignoring the continuous rain, activists of Congress, Left parties, New Democracy and others staged a protest at various places in the erstwhile Khammam district on Monday in support of the Bharat Bandh called by the farmer unions protesting the Centre's three farm laws.

All the main centres in the erstwhile Khammam district were reverberated with slogans against the NDA government. The protesters didn't allow even a single RTC bus to go on the road.

The protesters strongly objected the Agri bills at meetings and demanded the NDA government to rollback these bills immediately and protect farmers. They extended support to the farmers' protest at Delhi on this occasion.

Meanwhile, mild tension prevailed in Khammam town when the police arrested party activists. The leaders entered the bus stand and heated arguments took place between them and the police, when the latter stopped them. Police arrested several protesters and shifted them to the nearby police station.

Congress, Left parties, TDP and New Democracy leaders Puvvala Durga Prasad, Potla Nageswara Rao, MD Javeed, Nunna Nageswra Rao, B Hemanth Rao, P Prasad, Y Srikanth, G Venkateswarlu, B Somaiah, Y Srinivas Rao, Y Vikram, T Lingaiah , SK Basheer, Jammi Ashok, Selam Veerababu , M Nageswra Rao, and others participated in the protest.
