Khammam: The indefinite strike by the Unions of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) continued for the fifth day on Wednesday. However, amid protests, the RTC officials have been operating the services with the temporary staff in all main centres. According to officers, nearly 60 percent of services are being provided.

Meanwhile, all the opposition parties are supporting the strike and expressing their solidarity with the agitating employees in various ways. On Wednesday, the CPM conducted massive rallies in support of RTC strike at all the depot centres in erstwhile Khammam district.

A massive rally was conducted by the party leaders at district headquarters in Khammam on the day in which party State leaders P Sudharshan, district party leaders and Joint Action Committee leaders of (RTC) participated. They raised slogans against the government and the Chief Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, P Sudharshan stated that the CPM was giving full support to RTC workers strike. He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was making plans to privatise the RTC. He added that every worker was ready to fight against the State government's decision.

"The Chief Minister has been cheating the employees by giving false promises, and has implemented different policies against the interest of RTC and its staff. He is acting like a dictator," the CPM leader said, adding that though people have been facing hardships, Chief Minister had not responded positively towards the workers' demands.

The party also took out rallies in Madhira, Bhadrachalam, Kothaugudem and Sathupally depot limits on the day.
