Khammam: District Health Department gears up to administer corona vaccine
Khammam: District Medical and Health Department officials are gearing up to administer Covid-19 vaccine to about 12,500 medical staff of government and private hospitals in the district in the first phase.
Following the directions of the State government, the medical and health officials have prepared data of front line warriors and other front line workers including those aged above 50 years and having chronic diseases.
According to medical and health officials, corona vaccine expected to be available in the first or second week of January. A meeting was held with all medical and health officials about arrangements to be made for administering the vaccine.
District Medical and Health Officer Dr B Malathi said they are planning to administer vaccine to front line workers like sanitation, police and others, who were active during lockdown, in the second phase. In the third phase, vaccine will be administered to people, who crossed 50 years and chronic patients and there are about three lakh people in the age group of above 50 years in the district, she stated.
Dr Malathi said that they were planning to set up about 100 vaccination centres in the district and administer vaccine according to norms. Positive cases have been reduced drastically as awareness increased among the people and those, who noticed any symptoms, are taking treatment in homes.
