Khammam: Government committed to provide water to last acre says Minister Ajay

Khammam: Minister for Transport Puvvada Ajay Kumar said the government is committed to provide water to the last acre of standing crop under Nagarjuna Sagar project left canal in the erstwhile Khammam.

On Wednesday, the Minister released water to the left canal from Palair reservoir along with Palair MLA Kandala Upender Reddy, Wyra MLA Ramulu Naik, Sattupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and ZP Chairman Lingala Kamalraj.

Later speaking to the media, Minister Ajay Kumar said about 2.5 lakh acres of standing crop will be protected by releasing water. He thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for instructing the officials to release water from Nagarjuna Sagar project to Palair reservoir on his request.

The Minister said steps would be taken to release about 24.611 TMCs water to the left canal in seven phases for kharif season. Water would be released from Wednesday (August 12) to September 3 and after a six days gap, again water will be supplied for another nine days.

He instructed the officials to ensure every acre will get water. The agriculture officials were further instructed to ensure that there would be no fertilizers shortage and ensure all fertilizers are made available to farmers.
