Khammam: Minister Ajay Kumar distributes Shaadi Mubarak cheques
Khammam: Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar distributed Shaadi Mubarak scheme cheques to beneficiaries in Khammam city on Monday.
The Minister visited the houses of beneficiaries' homes in 33 municipal divisions and handed over the cheques along with fruits and sarees to them. The Minister thus distributed Rs 82.60 lakh worth cheques to 83 beneficiaries.
Ajay Kumar had started the practice of distributing the Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi cheques to beneficiaries at their doorsteps when he was MLA and continued the practice when he became a minister.
The families of beneficiaries gave a grand welcome to the Minister and offered sweets to him expressing their happiness.
Speaking on the occasion Ajay Kumar stated that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao introduced the Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi schemes to help girls of poor families get married. The schemes of the State government show its commitment towards welfare of weaker sections. He said, the aim of the Chief Minister to shoulder burden of the girls' marriages in the State.
Further he added that KC is the first Chief Minister in the country who implemented such schemes for welfare of people.
Deputy Mayor Bathula Murali Prasad, District Central Library chairman MA Qamar, tahsildar T Srinivas Rao, Municipal Corporation DE Ranga Rao and others were present.
