Khammam: Minister inaugurates RTC cargo services
Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar has inaugurated transport of maize to warehouses through TSRTC cargo services at Allipuram maize procurement centre in the district on Thursday. Along with District Collector RV Karnan, the Minister has flagged off the cargo services.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Kumar said the government is purchasing paddy and maize to help the farmers affected by the lockdown in view of coronavirus pandemic and the procurement process was nearing completion in Khammam district.
Transportation of procured grains was being done in trucks at many places. To speed up the transportation of grains to warehouses from procurement centres, it was decided to utilise RTC cargo services, he explained.
The government had conducted a survey on food consumption patterns across the State. Steps were being taken to encourage farmers to take up crops that are in demand in both State and country. Because of the committed steps, Telangana has become largest producer of food grains, he stated. The government wants farmers to be self-sufficient and to fix price for their produce, the Minister added.
DCC Bank chairman K Nagabhushanam, Markfed vice-chairman B Rajashekar, Additional Collector N Madhusudhan Rao, RTC Regional Manager SVG Krishna Murthy and others were present. Later, the Minister along with Mayor G Papalal, Collector Karnan, Municipal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi and others visited Lakaram mini-tank bund and inspected the progress of development works.
