Khammam: Minister, MP, ZP chief express deep shock on Vedadri accident
Khammam: A pall of gloom looms large on Peda Gopavaram village of Madhira mandal after 12 people including children and women died in a road accident at Vedadri of Jaggaiahpet mandal in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.
According to information, a farmer Vemireddy Gopi Reddy had invited 25 of his relatives to attend a function at Vedadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, where he was to fulfil his vows made a few months ago.
All the invitees went to the venue in a tractor and participated in the ritual.
When they are returning, a speeding lorry hit their tractor at Vedadri village. Out of the 25, 12 persons died including two children.
10 persons were injured and shifted to a hospital in Khammam. The deceased were identified as V Padmavathi (45), U Upender (15), V Uday (6), G Suryanarayana (46), L Appamma, Raji, Akkama (45), G Ramanamma (45) and V Bharathamma (70), who died on the spot and another three persons died in the hospital.
Minister for Transport Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao and ZP Chairman Lingala Kamalraj expressed deep shock and extended their condolences to the family members of the deceased. They instructed the doctors to provide better medical care to the injured and assured support and help from
the government to the victims' family members.
