Khammam Police recover 22 lakh worth property; two held

Khammam: The police on Monday recovered 267 grams gold ornaments and 30 kilogram silverware stolen property from two interstate offenders. Addressing the media, Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal said that during vehicle checks the police found two persons moving suspiciously at Prakash Nagar bridge in Khammam.

The police took them into custody and questioned their behaviour during which they confessed their crimes. The accused were identified as Rayapati Venkanna alias Venkaiah of Guntur, AP and Munagala Jaya Ram alias Raju of Vijayawada, AP, the Commissioner said.

Venkanna committed 30 burglaries in the past in Telangana, AP, Karnataka and Maharashtra while Jaya Ram committed 10 burglaries in AP. The property recovered was worth around Rs 22 lakh.

Innova car worth Rs 8 lakh was also recovered from the possession of the accused. The accused committed burglary under Khammam III town and Wyra police station limits.
