Khammam: Traffic signals to be set up at 12 junctions in the city

Khammam: District Collector RV Karnan along Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal inspected the roads and junctions of the city on cycle on Thursday to feel the problems the people face regarding heavy traffic.

The duo interacted with people and learned about the traffic issues. They instructed the municipal officials to take measures for the clearance of traffic. They also examined removal of footpath encroachments, signalling system works and drainage cleaning works.

Collector instructed the officials to clear all encroachments on footpaths from the Mayuri Centre to Zilla Parishad( ZP) centre which is the busy road in the town. The Collector asked the people who are planning to construct buildings on main roads should obtain traffic clearance license.

The Collector also told the commercial complex owners to provide parking in their cellars otherwise action would be taken against them. He instructed the special task force teams to ensure encroachment should not take place on footpaths.

After the tour of the city, Karnan informed that the administration has planned to set up traffic signals at seven junctions and traffic signals would be revived at five junctions. He also directed the Municipal Corporation officials to complete ongoing works for traffic regulation in time..

Municipal Corporation Mayor G Papalal, Traffic Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) Ramoji Ramesh, Ganesh also accompanied the Collector.
